About
RoofTentAtlas is a practical guide to roof tent travel in Europe. We publish structured information about camping spots, country-by-country overnight rules, and guides that help you plan safe, legal and comfortable trips.
How content is researched
Content is researched from public, official sources where possible: government and municipal pages, official tourism, forestry and nature-conservation agencies, campsite websites and their published rules, and vehicle, roof rack and roof tent manufacturer documentation. We prioritise primary sources over forum posts and opinion.
What comes from official sources
Where a fact — a rule, a fee, a facility or a restriction — is stated by an official source, we link that source on the page. Where a source does not state something, we leave the field unconfirmed rather than guessing.
How spots are verified
Each spot is source-reviewed against its official website and published rules. We record the source URL and a last-verified date. Source review is not a substitute for an on-site inspection; we do not claim to have visited a spot unless that is separately documented.
How to submit a correction
If you spot an error, or know a destination that should be listed, use the Submit a Spot form or the community tools. Corrections are reviewed before they are published.
What we do not claim
RoofTentAtlas does not claim professional qualifications, first-hand product testing, or on-site visits that we have not made. When a statement is our editorial judgement rather than a sourced fact, we say so.
